Saw a bumper sticker today: The Hell With The Rent...I'm Getting a Tattoo!
And there you have it in a nutshell.
Addtionally, a client today said his father went to the new Dallas Football Stadium. $225 for a decent ticket (not by a long shot the most expensive), $65 to park--at the baseball stadium (15 minutes walk to the front gate), $35 for a "stadium tour". That doesn't count beer, food, programs, souvenirs, etc. Now, multiply that times I don't know, a couple million (including College and the Pros, just football now)? You can't tell me that all these fans are well off enough to afford such an expense.
And then Americans say they can't afford health insurance? Gimme a break! We spend tons of money on stuff we don't need, then complain to the government that we can't afford the basics--food, housing, health care. Bunk. I say let's see a lot more personal responsibility and a lot less yielding to the temptation of our infantile desires.
