I spent years trying to educate clients about the law, because the Law is not influenced by common sense or truth or even the suffering of people. The law is influenced by money, period.
In the 1960's, idiots like JFK and his brother, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon Johnson, not to mention morons in hollywood and the music business felt guilt about the "plight" of "minorities," and labeled them. Once human beings adopted a label that made them less than human, it was the natural progression to pass a bunch of legislation that basically handed them a "go to the head of the class" card and relieved them of any personal responsibility for their actions, their future, and their ability to get ahead in life. Meanwhile, white people, men, who personally had nothing whatsoever to do with the "oppression" of any group of people, were made to feel guilty for working hard and succeeding.
That's not what the Founding Fathers had in mind for the United States, not at all.
Competition between and amongst one another provided the best way to determine the best qualified and able individual for any particular task, but also tossed an incentive to others to work hard and be tenacious. Competition also helped to raise the level of everybody's ability, talent, etc. Once that competition was usurped by Title VII and its prodigy, once that competition was obliterated by Affirmative Action, the EEOC and the ADA, all hell broke loose. The bar was lowered to accomodate the inferior workers and students who were lawfully required to be hired and matriculated, and the entire country was well on its way to being rendered impotent and irrelevant in the eyes of the rest of the world, the eyes that once looked up to that same great country.
NOW, look where we are today. No personal responsibility, able-bodied workers on the government tit, employees demanding everything from employers who've already given almost everything...and companies saying "I'm going to Singapore" or Mexico or Trinidad, or wherever to make my widget.for way less. We have malingering employees who seek jackpots in the Worker's Compensation melee; minorly-injured parties who hire blood-thirsty lawyers who engage unscrupulous "physicians" who use the aberrant law to extract bogus "damages" from ruthless and overpaid insurers; senior citizens who count the minutes until they reach age 62 1/2 so they can "get what's coming" to them, a measly amount of money while they are still quite able of earning a living and being productive Americans. We are addicted to enertainment, leisure and recreation. We don't read. We don't think critically. We don't really care.
But we as a country don't manufacture anything anymore. Which is important since the way we got out of the Great Depression was due to our manufacturing bas,and our war machine buildup.
Now what? What do we do? We've created a society of lazy, ignorant, carefree alcoholics and drug abusers whose only goal in life is to make a pittance of money to buy cheap, greasy and unhealthy food, booze, cigarettes, lottery tickets and weed. Oh, and a big screen tv to squat in front of, and then free medical care when the lifestyle catches up to them.
And what do they call themselves? "Victims." Victims of "the man" or some other entity, they guy who rear-ended me or the company that fired me "for no reason" or that witch who got herself pregnant or those buttholes who sold me that house or the electric company who just wants its money or the credit card company who screwed me or whomever. It's always somebody else to blame.
Why?
Because of what those idiots did in the 1960's with all their happy high-brow baloney about "discrimination" and "oppression" and "domination" and "equality" and "fairness" and We Are The Fricking World.
And now we are at a crossroads; we will either watch the final nails being driven into our caskets or we will not go gently into that good night.
We will demand leadership, or we will lead.
